The Catbells Path

Bracken turns a rich golden brown, making a vivid contrast with the brilliant green grass beside the path that winds its way to the top of Catbells. Usually one of the first peaks climbed by walkers young and old, it offers spectacular views of Derwentwater, Keswick, and the surrounding mountains and valleys. This photograph was taken from Latrigg, another Lake District landmark on the other side of the valley. Autumn colours last for a long time in Lakeland, this image was taken in mid-September, 2006.
