Fluorescent orange and yellow lobster fishing buoys piled on a dock. Each fisherman has his own unique buoy, so he is able to easily find his traps. Prince Edward Island has two lobster fishing seasons, during which time both male and egg-bearing female lobsters are allowed to be trapped and kept. In contrast, Maine fishermen may trap all year round, but there are strict limits on size. Breeding females, or females that have bred in the past, must be thrown back. |
