| The Brown Water Snake (nerodia taxispilota) feeds on frogs and fish caught among the vegetation near the shores of rivers, ponds, and small lakes. They are arboreal, basking and sleeping on branches overhanging the water. When frightened, they will drop from their resting place and will readily bite. Brown Water Snakes are harmless, but they are easily confused with the venomous Cottonmouth because of their large size and superficial resemblance. | |||||||||||||||||
