Unfolding Fern Leaf
Ferns are vascular plants that reproduce through a life cycle instead of by producing seeds. They often grow in marginal habitats, where flowering plants would not succeed. In spring they send up tightly furled shoots called croziers or fiddleheads, that unfurl into branching leaves.
