Stone Barn

An empty stone barn stands beside a dry stone wall near Keswick in Cumbria's Lake District. Sheep farming is still a way of life for local people who are not involved with the tourist industry, as it has been for generations. Much of the land is now owned by the National Trust, but it is leased back to farmers. In many cases the herds of sheep also belong to the National Trust and are part of the lease agreement.
