Roseate Spoonbill
The Roseate Spoonbill (ajaia ajaja) is a large wading bird found in mangrove swamps, tidal ponds, salt water lagoons, and other areas with brackish water. They have a long, spoon-shaped bill that they sweep from side to side in the water to sift up food including small fish, shrimp, mollusks, snails, and insects. The pink color comes from the crustaceans they eat. The crustaceans feed on algae that gives the Spoonbill's feathers its rosy colour.
