Spider

spider at the center of a web

Spiders are arachnids, with two main body parts, eight walking legs, simple eyes, and piercing jaws (fangs). They eat insects, which they capture by a variety of methods. The one we are all familiar with is by spinning a web which entangles walking, jumping, and flying prey. Some spiders bite the insects they capture in the web, injecting a paralysing venom, while others wrap their prey securely in silk. Silk wrapped prey may be stored for eating later.
