Sonning Bridge

Sonning Bridge is the only road bridge across the Thames between Reading and Henley-on-Thames. Built in 1775, and designed for horses and waggons, it is too narrow for today's traffic, so it is one way controlled by traffic lights. Rumour has it that Dick Turpin used this bridge to escape from the authorities. From the river it is a peaceful sight, especially on a still morning, which belies the long queues of traffic waiting to cross the river.
