Saddle Bronc Riding
Saddle bronc riding is one of rodeo's classic events. The origins of the competition are in the breaking and training of horses. As with other rodeo roughstock events, both the horse and the rider are judged; the more difficult the ride, the higher the score. In this event, the rider is expected to display "spurring action", sweeping his feet from far forward on the bronc's point of shoulder, right to the back of the saddle as the horse bucks. Feet must remain in the stirrups for the full eight second ride, and, needless to say, the cowboy must not fall off or dismount until the horn sounds to signal the end of the ride.
