The best way to suppose what may come,

is to remember what is past.
George Saville, Marquis of Halifax , 1633-1695
There is something about ruins, perhaps the way that outlines soften as walls crumble, that make them very attractive for photographers. Erosion, creeping vegetation, lichens, all contribute to the mellowing. Sometimes old buildings and artifacts are kept in perfect condition, and as styles and fashions ebb and flow the old becomes new again.
