Young Ostrich (Struthio camelus)

The ostrich is a flightless bird, native to Africa. It is the largest bird in the world by height. Females lay eggs in a single communal nest. The eggs are incubated by the females during the day, and by the males at night. After hatching, the male will defend the hatchlings from predators, and teach them how to find food. Ostriches are now raised commercially for meat, feathers, and leather.
