| Ellesmere is a small market town in Shropshire. It was once an important port on the Ellesmere Canal, now known as the Llangollen Canal. Thomas Telford lived in a house beside the canal in Ellesmere while the canal was under construction. The wharf, once a vibrant and important centre for commerce, is now surrounded by derelict buildings, but a new plan has been approved for regeneration, with homes, shopping, and restaurants. | |||||||||||||||||
