Misty Day

The climate of England's Lake District is harsh and unyielding, with low temperatures, high rainfall, and poor, thin soils. Consequently the type of farming practiced here for centuries has been hill sheep farming, with some cattle grazing in lowland areas. The landscape is dotted with stone barns, some derelict, but many still in use for a variety of purposes.
