Most of the commercial fishing boats in Cornwall have now moved to a few of the larger protected harbours, where once they were dispersed among many small fishing villages. Megavissy, with both an inner and a protected outer harbour, is still a thriving centre for commercial fishermen. The mild climate and access to open waters also make it a popular town for retirement and a centre for pleasure boaters and yachtsmen.
