Last Rose

A climbing rose blooms for the last time in autumn. Villages in the Cotswolds are built of local limetone of a distinctive yellow colour. The style of architecture has not changed over the centuries, and it can be difficult for the amateur to guess at the date of the buildings. One might think that leaded window glass and stone lintels would offer a clue, but many modern buildings incorporate these historic features. This image caught my eye one day in late September, 2006, on the main street in Broadway.
