Hunting Island Lighthouse

Black and White cast iron lighthouse at Hunting Island State Park

The 132.5 foot tall lighthouse is located half way between Savannah and Charleston. It was built to be portable, and has been moved 3 times. It is constructed of large cast iron sections that are lined with bricks. The rotating fresnel light was visible for 17 miles. It was deactivated in 1933. The foundation of the lighthouse keepers house is in the foreground.
