Hoodoos
Created by the action of wind and weather on soft sandstone, hoodoos are a geological feature found in many arid areas. More properly described as spires or pillars, these formations are located at Dutch Creek, north of Columbia Lake in the Canadian Rockies. It is possible to hike up to the headland above and view them from a vantage point high above the Columbia River. On a damp June afternoon the sun came out just as we arrived at the top, outlining the folds and ridges with soft rim lighting.
