The Headland and Freshwater Bay, Isle of Wight
Freshwater Bay is on the south side and at the far west of the Isle of Wight. The normally white chalk cliffs turn golden in the beautiful light of an English autumn day. In the distance is a large country house used as a base for hikers. Julia Margaret Cameron, one of the best known of the early photographers, lived near here and entertained politicians and famous entertainers. A museum in the village showcases her life and work. This picture was taken in late October, 2006.
