Flamingo

Flamingoes are large wading birds. Their colour is influenced, not by the brine shrimp they eat, but by the blue-green algae that is also part of their diet. They are found in tropical and sub-tropical areas, and as a general rule they are non-migratory birds. Flamingoes have good hearing. Their senses of taste and smell are poorly developed, but they have excellent eyesight. They are able to recognize their uniformed keepers among visitors in zoological settings.
