Young Emu
The emu is a flightless bird, native to Australia. It is the second largest bird in the world by height, only its near relative the ostrich is taller. Males build the nest, incubate the eggs, and raise the chicks. While the male is thus occupied, the female is likely to run off with other males and lay a second and then a third clutch of eggs. Emus are now raised commercially for meat, oil, and leather.
