Dinghies
The Cornish fishing industry is an integral part of the county's historical, economic and social structure. It is still very much alive, although sadly reduced from its heyday in the 19th century. For many years the mainstay of the industry was pilchard, which were caught in great quantity off the Cornish coast and exported as far away as Italy. Today only a few pilchard are caught and used for baiting long-lines. I loved the bright colours of these dinghies in the harbour at Porthleven.
