Once known as Paepaehakumana by the Maori people, and the site of a number of significant battles, Government Gardens in Rotorua, New Zealand, is now a gentle haven for petanque, lawn bowling, croquet, and museums, art and historical exhibits. The evening sun casts long shadows on the manicured lawns and sculpted flower beds that make such a contrast to the bloody history of the location. |
