Alum Bay , Isle of Wight
Alum Bay cliffs, at the western end of the Isle of Wight, are multicoloured limestone, part of the Bracklesham Group. Geologists offer several theories for the bright colours of the sand and clay strata. The colours are brightest after rain, so I was fortunate to see them at their best in late October, 2006.
